Stress reduction

Stress in the workplace is a serious issue. For the individual it can mean greater vulnerability to illness, interpersonal issues, loss of creativity and depression. For the employer it can mean high sickness levels, a de-motivated, possibly cynical work force, more conflict at work, resistance to change and reduced performance.

“I have most appreciated Sara’s warm, gentle and compassionate teaching”

We are developing a new approach to respond to stress in the workplace which helps individuals to:

  • Identify their own stress response
  • Spot the signs of stress early and take appropriate action
  • Recognise thought patterns that exacerbate stress and reduce their negative influence
  • Deal with difficult situations without withdrawing or adopting a defensive or aggressive stance.

The approach is based on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). Joy MacKeith and Sara Burns are trained MBSR teachers. Kate Graham is a certified NLP trainer and Master Practitioner. Kate and Sara have also trained in Non Violent Communication and Sara leads eight week MBSR courses in North London.

“Thank you for a great 8+ weeks. I found the course really interesting and enjoyable and it's still helping me to deal with (or ignore!) situations. I'm really grateful to you for teaching us new skills and creating such a lovely atmosphere at the same time”
